Voltiris is excited to announce the release of its new white paper presenting the results of the fall 2025 strawberry trial conducted with Harvestis, in Hoogstraten, Belgium.
The study evaluates the economic impact of spectral-filtering solar technology during an autumn cultivation of Elsanta strawberries, combining agronomic trial data with Belgian market prices.
The trial ran from August to November 2025 and compared two identical 500 m² compartments, one equipped with Voltiris modules and one without. The results showed that the Voltiris system cooled plants by 3–5°C during periods of direct sunlight, giving fruit more time to ripen and reach a larger size.
The improved climate translated into stronger fruit performance. Strawberries grown under Voltiris modules shifted clearly toward the larger, higher-value size classes and extended the harvest window into the traditionally high-priced late-fall period. This ultimately drove a 9% increase in revenue compared with the reference compartment, using 2025 market prices, along with a 12% decrease in harvest labor, since bigger berries mean fewer fruits to pick per kilogram.
